Ringers Battle Cry

Quarterfinals Series Win vs the Hibernians 2 games to 1 aka "We are all Witnesses"

The Sons of Sully took the series against the Hibernians 2 to 1 in what proved a series for the ages.

The Ringers took the first game 11-5 behind some strong defense and soild pitching. The Hibernians tied the series up in the second game behind a late rally 11-10.

The series came down to the rubber match. The Hibernians had the momentum, but the Ringers are tried and tested. They have been here before. They know what it takes to get the job done.

The Hibernians jumped up 5-0 early with a bunch of 2 out hits and a few Ringer miscues. The men of Monty started out slow at the plate but had a few breaks with some Hibernians errors to get things tied up. The bottom of the order fueled the run production DSull, Riz, Crowlz, Sweet all pitched in with hits and Sweet with a huge bases clearing hit. We took the field tied up at 5.

I fell apart in that next inning. There comes a time when a man has conversations with himself that are better left untold. I woke up feeling like I should go to church to apologize for my comments. It was a struggle all day...hot, angry, really mad at the fact that Billy would be calling half of those strikes, but you get through it. Thanks to DSull for the words of encouragment. A man needs that in his time of anguish. I really felt like I dined in Hell that inning.

Back and forth game with the Ringers up, then the Greens. Can't remember the particular order of anything:

-great plays by the Outfield all night, DSull, Danny, TC, McGrath all with big catches and some great throws

-MBags a huge play at 3B to nail a guy at second and keep them only scoring 1 that inning

-Sully, battling a tough day at the plate, with solid SS play nailing a guy from the hole

-Crupi and I connected on a nice out at home on a TC throw

-Big hits by MBags, Boonton setting the table

-Timmy a clutch hit with 2 outs to keep us playing that game

-Noyes and Shaun being team players and letting the better hitters stay in, good teammates

8th inning
The Hibernians had 2nd and 3rd with the leadoff hitter up and 2 outs. This is the tall guy, the captain, and a good hitter. I remembered him muttering something from game 1 that he is a sucker for the low pitches. I tried to throw him something he would have to lunge for, he did, and he popped it up to Danny. Crisis averted...on to the bottom

I lead off with a pushed single past the third baseman. DSull comes up and hits a rocket heading up the middle, no way that thing gets touched. I take off thinking third and the pitcher no looks it and it hits his glove, so ridiculous. Things were looking Bleak for the Ringers....but then Sweet singles, and Shaun gets on by the third baseman's error. They intentionally walk the Table Setter to bring up Danny the Freak. Crup-a-loop was almost out of the game early on but Noyes made sure that Asian Chasin' Dan stayed in the game. Dirty Knee stepped up to the plate liking his chances. The Power Bottom saw a pitch to drive and he drove it, and drove it hard. Sweet scored and pinch runner Crowlz took a big turn and came in to score via Lynn. Clutch hit by Crupi, The Legend of CLupi has happened guys. We are all Witnesses...

Last Reg season game Loss 16-15 to On the Hill aka "Danny the Freak"

The last regular season game came down to 2 powerhouses. The Powerhouse of the C divison vs the Mighty On the Hill, the powerhouse of the B division (still waiting for someone to explain to me where the A division is...or went.

The Ringers' took the field with 9 guys, led by swingin' Danny Crupi. We had a bat on loan from NJ, a Miken Freak 98, the bat, the myth, the legend. Danny had been eyeing that thing since I took it out of the car, he stepped up to the plate with it and mayhem insued. Kid roped a liner to left, GT'd it at first with that shit eatin grin like "yeah, i have had a few Mai-Tai's in my day...what's it to ya?"

We jumped out to a 6-2 lead with the kid knocking a 2 run single with 2 outs via the Freak. Noyes started off a little wild but brought it back in when we needed it. Also showed ridiculous relexes putting his glove in front of his face before he was hit with a laser...went on to scoop it over Crowley's head but we will blame that on nerves...nice save Noyes, settled down and pitched well.

Bags got back in the mix with "the best ball I have hit in 5 years", a bases clearing hit that scored Crowley and I, with Bags rounding the bases after an error in the OF. Josh hit a bomb that may be still going out to left center, MBags hit well occupying the 3rd slot with our fearless leader spankin it down in Plymouth. Sweet did a good job at the top of the order getting on base, Mario missed a few RBI situations with some sky pop ups. They caught up, we then traded runs, going up 15-12 in the 7th, but couldn't hold them down at the end. We purposely loaded the bases with a walk to get a force at home but a single ended our bid.

Some interesting plays at third, Noyes an indirect route rounding second heading to third...touching the OF grass, Crupi hurdling the third baseman to avoid a tag looking like a cat that you just snuck up on...he managed to over hurdle the base for an out, Josh was NOT happy. Noyes got beaned in the back with a throw from short, On the Hill wanted Noyes dead...must be some bad blood.

The Freak is being kept in an undisclosed location so the Feds can't get it...http://paws.kettering.edu/~drussell/bats-new/doctored.html

Playoffs start on Tues, 7:30, good field

Last 4 games W, L, W, L. I think?
