The Ringers took the first game 11-5 behind some strong defense and soild pitching. The Hibernians tied the series up in the second game behind a late rally 11-10.
The series came down to the rubber match. The Hibernians had the momentum, but the Ringers are tried and tested. They have been here before. They know what it takes to get the job done.
The Hibernians jumped up 5-0 early with a bunch of 2 out hits and a few Ringer miscues. The men of Monty started out slow at the plate but had a few breaks with some Hibernians errors to get things tied up. The bottom of the order fueled the run production DSull, Riz, Crowlz, Sweet all pitched in with hits and Sweet with a huge bases clearing hit. We took the field tied up at 5.
I fell apart in that next inning. There comes a time when a man has conversations with himself that are better left untold. I woke up feeling like I should go to church to apologize for my comments. It was a struggle all day...hot, angry, really mad at the fact that Billy would be calling half of those strikes, but you get through it. Thanks to DSull for the words of encouragment. A man needs that in his time of anguish. I really felt like I dined in Hell that inning.
Back and forth game with the Ringers up, then the Greens. Can't remember the particular order of anything:
-great plays by the Outfield all night, DSull, Danny, TC, McGrath all with big catches and some great throws
-MBags a huge play at 3B to nail a guy at second and keep them only scoring 1 that inning
-Sully, battling a tough day at the plate, with solid SS play nailing a guy from the hole
-Crupi and I connected on a nice out at home on a TC throw
-Big hits by MBags, Boonton setting the table
-Timmy a clutch hit with 2 outs to keep us playing that game
-Noyes and Shaun being team players and letting the better hitters stay in, good teammates
8th inning
The Hibernians had 2nd and 3rd with the leadoff hitter up and 2 outs. This is the tall guy, the captain, and a good hitter. I remembered him muttering something from game 1 that he is a sucker for the low pitches. I tried to throw him something he would have to lunge for, he did, and he popped it up to Danny. Crisis averted...on to the bottom

*special thanks to Boonton help with the artwork
